Pinstriping - Yay or Nay

Featured Replies

Simple question, to pinstripe or not to pinstripe ... that is the question.

Will it look naff, or good?

Comments / Pictures please!!

naff , we get the odd car into work , usually a Ford Focus with some form of strip down the side , boy does it look bad , hand painted down the side of a coach built Roller might be acceptable but not on anything new

I thought the go-faster stripes on Q's special edition "Starsky and Dutch" flymobile looked really

Or are pinstripes something else? :o

Pinstripes are the thin lines that run down the side of the car to define some sort of line between top and bottom. I noticed that on my neighbours Silver 106 it made it seem like the car had a different colour on top to the bottom and looks very discrete and nice.

Any one recommend colours that do work or is it such a naff idea that no colour can make it acceptable? :D

Ahhhh Mikey Boi! Welcome to the forum! Yes they can work but only on the right car! Examples will follow :)

Very easy to mess up totally and I'm not just on about getting the lines straight.

I de-pinstriped my Citroen AX GT and it looked far better afterwards.

If you're going to do it, what styling cues/clues are you going to use start/end it?

IMO the indicator repeater or just above the crease in the door may work out.

its what you would get on a 405, meastro! second hand cars have them alot it helps sell them "apparently" when i was doing work exp in cars sales

my oppinion no dont bother just keep the car looking clean and shiney:D

on my first car(1981 Ford Fiesta 1100 Popular Plus) i had a nasty 2 inch brown and orange pinstripe not good on what was then a 13 year old car......especialy as it was beige so i used my sister hair drier to destripe it....oh and my mum's one too cos i broke my sister's one lol

There is some sort of defined crease running down the side of the car, and I was thinking of following these.

Still not sure if I should do it yet but may get some to try out.

Was thinking of running it from the front indicator to the rear brake lights any other suggestions.

Still not sure what colour either - my car is a Petrol Green Fabia - any ideas?

Still waiting for some piccies of a fabia that has it - perhaps I should have a post in the Photography section to see if some one can photoshop me one!:D
