Servicing Madness

Featured Replies

Well, there are all those "fixed" price servicing boards around, but I get the feeling that's just to make people aware of how much it is rather than to make sure all dealers have it the same...

Rob.

I have always had a feeling that servicing is a scam to get money out of you. In my student days I drove a number of older second hand cars. Never serviced any of them and they all ran well enough.

So why not apply that credo to the Octy? Could it be that you know its wrong and you want to look after your car?

I know dealer costs vary, and can be a lot of money. But its very easy to forget that these "rip off merchants" are also supplying the independant market with qualified mechanics which costs money. Training isnt free or given to anyone.

Having worked for a manufacturer and independant (different field I know) I always get very annoyed at people who think servicing should be dirt cheap and at no inconvienience to them......well unfortunately life costs....do you go to work for nothing and out of the goodness of your heart?

If you are honest, servicing costs are something that will have been considered when you were buying your new car, and if they werent then I dont want to be your bank manager.
