Do or Don't

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I am after some advice.

I have seen a 2003 Octavia VRS which is super chipped upto 220bhp, I am thinking of purchasing this vehicle but have read some interesting things on honest john website which have put me off.

Can anybody confirm whether the timing belts die at 70/80000 miles sounds like there are a few issues and could well kill the engine?

Can anybody make me feel any better as I so love this car and want to buy it

Thanks in advance

Hi welcome to the site.

I replaced my timing belt at 60k miles which is approx the 120k kms recomendation.

If it's on 70/80k I would expect it to be done by now.

As to the superchip claim of 220, that's slighlty rounded up, having had superchips on my octy rs, although no longer it is acceptable, but do I would not pay a premium for this.

All other things being equal and reasonable condition, I'd consider it, have a search on here as plenty of historical data / postings.

it might well be a car from the site anyway :)

good luck
