To Skoda or not to Skoda ??

Featured Replies

Hi,

We are probably going to buy an Octavia, but are still considering, mainly 'cos the seat is very narrow, and herself finds it uncomfortable.

It is a great car and it will be very sad if we don't go ahead.

Great site and been very helpful so far with various queries.

Odd, cos I don't find an Octy's (mk1) seats too narrow or anything else uncomfortable, and coming from a Citroen Xantia, hard or narrow seats would have been a deal-breaker.

I and the Mrs found the Mk2 seats uncomfortable on a long drive

I believe the Mk I seats were better than the Mk II :(

The seats in the sport are more comfy

Are they not even narrower and more figure hugging than the standard?

If not how can they be "sports seats" ?

My Octy is a recent acquisition. No probs with seat narrowness (In fact I'd like the sides a little closer, possibly...) but found 'em very hard coming from an old Citroen ZX. However, with a bit of adjusting to get my position just right, they now feel pretty good even on long journeys.

I'd still recommend an Octavia to anyone, despite a few minor niggles I've had. Nothing a bit of DIY couldn't fix. Not bad for an 8 year old car!

MY back was knackered driving a 2000 Golf, now I hardly have any pain, after ages getting the seat and steering wheel right I find it comfy.

Firmer than Citroen seats sure, but not the "cast concrete" hardness I've experienced in Veedubs and Mercs.

SWMBO as not got the smallest ar$e in the world (neither have I for that matter) but she is perfectly happy in the vRS.

Hi all,

We found a solution to the seat problem, a simple 5 degree wedge cushion, and SWMBO is totally comfortable, so having had a prolonged trial, Vindis of Woolpit let us have an Octy 2 Elegance for half a day to test the seating, we then went ahead and ordered.

Car arrived on Friday, 1.9TDi Elegance Estate DSG in Cappucino, the Sahara Beige replacement. Pretty colour slightly more silvery, and less sandy colour.

Spent yesterday and today working through the handbook and getting used to the DSG. :D

Neat side effect of the cushion for SWMBO is that when we swap drivers there is no need to mess with the mirrors as the height difference is near perfect!
