Decision made - Octy on the way!

Featured Replies

Well, I have gone and done it! After several months deliberation, I have taken the bull by the horns and bought an Octavia:) . I have bought a low mileage 2.0 TDI Elegance ex demonstrator in Graphite Grey and pick it up on Friday. Managed to get a reasonable part-ex price for my current car (a high mileage 2004 3 series BMW) and get some money kno cked off as well. It's true what they say - dealers are more keen to deal at the end of the sales month/quarter!

Interestingly this car I test drove a few weeks ago and seat comfort was fine, whereas another Elegance I had on a weekend test drive made my back ache after about 20 mins. The main difference between the cars was that the estate had sports suspension and 17" Pegasus wheels. As there have been lots of posts regarding seat comfort, thought it worth mentioning!

As a driver of the vRS on 18's and with no comfort probs, are you sure it was not the adjustment of the lumber support that was causing your discomfort?

Either way congrats on your choice of car, coming from a BMW you will of course have to adapt your driving style  hope you enjoy it and welcome

I test drove a classic and I had no back ache. Then a week later I tried a Sport and it felt comfortable whilst driving but when I got out of it I had really bad back ache. This was before I read the posts on here. I'm just hoping that the elegance I've ordered is going to be ok.

Yes the Octy is fully fitted with indicators!! :P

Good choice of car - I've had mine 3 weeks now and I'm loving it!

Enjoy your car when it arrives.I never suffer from back ache after driveing my Oct'y even doing over 500miles in one day, unlike my sister-in-laws Renault, 2 miles max.

Does anyone know if the actual seats in the Octy Comfort are different to those in the Elegance?

What is an Octy Comfort??

I thought only trim models were Classic, Ambiente, Elegance and L&K, plus the Sport and vRS which have "Sport" seats.

The Sport has the same seats as the Ambiente trim.

You mean the ambiente, and they have a different cover on them, not sure about anything else

In three days mine should arrive. And yes, you're right about dealers being more keen to deal at the end of the sales month/quarter. I wanted Elegance 2.0 TDi but needed to wait for it almost 3 months. Then they offered me a deal to buy 2.0 TDi Sport for the price of Elegance because they've had it in stock ready to deliver. It was Friday, 29th of September, last working day of September and cheef salesman was going crazy because the've needed to sell just one more car to get that sales ammount for September. For me it was good deal, saved almost 3.000 euros and for them the deal was good as well, I guess. So, paperwork requested at Friday 3pm and I hope they get all ready Wednesday morning. Can't wait. I'm little bit worried about comfort in Sport because of suspension and 17' wheels as I only tested Elegance, but people at this forum told me to go for it and not to worry about comfort because the difference is little but safety highly improved.

Yeah, and one more thing: Sold my Avensis 2005 VVTi 1.8 petrol but I have to deliver it only at the day my Octy gets ready. It's now parked in my garage and I fear even to touch it. Took it yesterday to go to buy newspapers and I was so worried and carefull driving it because if something happens I'm in deep trouble:eek: . Fortunatly, I'm on vacations for 7 more days so I decided to stay at home and use bicycle (I live in southern Portugal) not to drive Avensis.

I wish we both have luck with our Octy's:thumbup:
