rover P6 V8

Featured Replies

My dad has an automatic rover p6. he has uprated the engine to a 4.6 rover v8 and has a racing manifold fitted. It also has fibreglass wings.

It only has a 4 speed auto and does shift well.

Although I haven't driven it :( Asked so many times lol but he say in a couple of years lol :( Sooooo tempted just to take it for a spin while he was at work one time but I resisted :P

Comments welcome :)

That has to be the ugliest car I have ever seen.

You could do with investing in a decent razor mate and having a shave....

Car looks stunning by the way, what year is it?

Has he offered to race you yet, or have you shown him what the BMW/Mustang/Veyron slayer can do already? ;)

lol its a matter of opionin.

Each to thier own eh? :)

Just mentioned the Rover P6 to a mate at work who has one in his garage.

Not been used for years, last started 2 years ago.

God he wont shut up about it now, bringing in pictures to show me of his P6 tommorow, turned into a little kid talking about it.

He wishes he had the time to put his baby back on the road.

I will when I get a rear ARB fitted.

TBH I dont think he will stand a chance....

As long as there arn't too many straight bits of road ;)

Get rid of those hood scoops and the badges in front and it will look much better

Goochie, you're plain f*ckin' mean :D

I dont think my dad will lol but when I get it I may do so

I am also tempted to strip and lighnen it and sort the suspention and put a 6 speed supre box in...

But i dunno - it seems kinna cruel

I think it's a great car, and in brilliant condition apart from the non-period mods.

The scoops are not added on - its a usa bonnent and the only other "non period mods" are the mesh on the front and the uprated manifolds/airfilters.

Oh and the Cd player :P and 10" ;)

Oh and the rims are off a Jenson Interseptor.

TBH its the bonnet that makes the thing look like a big old mess. If it was a single scoop it wouldnt look so bad but it does look like its been covered in superglue and crashed into Halfords.

Obviously just my opinion.

ha ha fair enough m8 - I can see where your coming from but it does look better in the metal ;)

The scoopes do actaully sork too - the outlets point directly onto the airfilters

I was thinking of the cone filters and mesh lower grille, rather than the bonnet itself. I've not seen one like that before, but those scoops were available separately in period.

The other detail I'd change would be the horn position, cos period would set Fiamms(?) low and front in the engine bay.

I second that. Rover P6 a proper Rover!

lovely vehicle. I want one!

The old V8 has been around a while and has buckets of character.

the comments about it being ugly.......well, was there a "performance saloon" around at the time with the benefits of aerodynamic wind tunnel development and computer aided design? I think not. For a design that's over 30 years old, I think it looks great, and stands out as a classic amidst a sea of automotive dross.

easy engine to work with ... loadsa tuning options out now for that power plant ... not sure on the shape myself but hey ho

Just endeavoured this old thread :-)

See my website www.RoverP6.info if you like to see more P6s

You just cant beat the sound of the american V8's I am biased though.

YouTube - Brisky NW meet 09-09

Thats my car making the noise in the first and last 30s. And the p6 is dam fine.

Cops and robbers enough said.

Steve.

No don't drive it without dads OK, he'll never tust you again and believe me he will know. I've always liked the Rover 2000 shape myself. The 3500 VIP being the best and last model.
