Double remap?

Featured Replies

As you may or may not know my car has been remapped by AmD.

Would Jabba be able to get me any more power?

Doesn't look like it as they specialise in "Forced Induction" tuning :D Best to put your pennies aside and save for your next car :D

Chris

:iagree:

don't throw money at a N/A car with very very little gain, either turbo it or get a different car :)

yeh.....

just what i suspected....:( :( :(

I need more money lol:(

Sounds like AMD Done good enough to get your car to 135 hp as it is. That's a 20 hp gain from an N/A car.

Yeh I surpose..

Ross was telling me about someone he knew who got thier 2.0l 8v to 180bhp  for about 1k..

Thats the way to go..

/waits for ross to elaborate :D

Yeah but that was in a MK2 Golf, somewhat different to your engine.

Blimey, 115bhp to 180bhp . . . . . . got to be a turbo surely?

How much is your car worth?

Sell it and get a Starlet Turbo, I think that would be right up your street.

Double remap ?? Does that mean I can get another 58bhp if I take the Octavia for another remap ? ;)

Remapping a n/a car is rarely worth it. Save for something turbo'd.

Sunny GTiR ?

why is everybody allways banging on about how good turbo cars are and dissmissing n/a cars?? i would much rather drive a well tuned n/a car than a laggy turbo jobby anyday!

If I got 4 remaps would that give me 4 times the power?

YES! HONEST!:D and the remap company might give you a nice cup of teas while you wait!:D

or you might just end up 4x poorer!

But if you're into modding, you're better off starting with a turbo car.

I love the lack of turbo on my Z. The power deliivery is so smooth and seamless. The Octvaia feels fast when I use it because the power delivery is so poor and you get that big kick when the turbo comes on boost.

However, if the Z had for example, a 2.0 turbo lump the front end woul dbe lighter and the power coul dbe greater - but the characteristics of the car and the driving experience would be ruined.

yes, all that is true, but having a turbo isn't the only way of achieving lots of power from an engine, to make a turbo car reliable at higher boost levels requires higher grade internals (pistons/rods etc) because of the higher combustion temperatures, whereas you can achieve the same sort of power levels from a n/a engine with the right bits bolted on, and still retain the stock internals.

i'm not saying that you could go out and get a standard 2.0 furby remapped and get massive power from it, but spending a bit of money in key areas can release a lot more power than people think.

personnaly i've seen a 1.8-20t turbo engine remapped giving 195bhp- great i here you all saying

then i saw a 1.8 20v n/a engine running 45mm throttle bodies producing 220bhp

Not always the case.

The 150bhp engine in the MK1 Octavia Elegance can take a 120+bhp increase without changing any internals.

Standard MR2 = 140bhp + 20bhp magic remap = 160bhp + 20 + 20 + 20 = 220bhp  wow!! Better wait till breakfast for that one and find some Honda Accord Type R's and BMW 325's ;)

Thanks for your enlightenment,

God bless,

walkie

You better pray that they haven't gone the quadruple remap route too ;)

Thanks for your enlightenment,

glad to see we are on the same wavelength here then:rolleyes:

What if you had the car chipped then remapped the chip ? could you then add a piggy back chip to the remapped chip and remap the piggy back chip too?

;)

group buy anyone?? sounds like a stunning idea to me!;)

Funds are too short for a quadruple map :(

I've just folded down my passenger seat in the MR2, hoping this will be enough to see off those Accords and Beemers.

What about folding the roof down too ?

Does that only work if you're wearing drag? At least that was what I think my physics teacher told us.........

why not go for a deluxe k&n induction kit?? it should give you the extra 100bhp you are yearning for!!
