YouTube - skoda rapid video

Nice one!

Reminds me of an article in CCC years ago when they had a Skoda flashing

BMW's to get the hell out of the way on a motorway.

Loved the wheels on the first ESTELLE ! Hated the standard ones on the white RAPID and the abuse it was getting.Looks like they are keeping the tradition of abusing ex Russian air force bases with plenty of dough-nuts...power in the boot !

Very entertaining! Although that last move at the end of the video, nearly hit that car coming the other way!

Indeed. Really wreckless towards the end. Nice car all the same!

found it :D

I had 3 Rapids from the beginning of my driving! The car at the start has the 130RS spoiler on the back, don't know if it did have the official 'Sport' bits on it though.

They are great cars - I'd have another. A lot seemed to disappear back to the Eastern Block in the late 90's, there are still some that crop up, normally relatively tidy but frequently with head gasket problems (I got rather adept at changing mine...) - nice handling up to the limit but once you step past it you either need to be very lucky or have a lot of space, the weight in the tail will decide where the car wants to go!

The car in CCC was probably the Rover V8 powered one - it had big scoops on either side (the Rover lump was in the middle, driving through a Renault 30 transaxle) and was red/maroon. Max power did a feature on Skodas when it was a half decent mag (first ten issues, then it decided it wasn't a car mag anymore...) - I've got the issue in the loft somewhere!

Sorry - I was a total Skoda anorak at the time!

Seen that one before..... I believe said driver is a Czech relative of Whelen VRS ;)

 I've seen the video before, but it still brings a HUGE grin to my face!

Maybe that's cos I've a fleet of rear engined Skodas to choose from if I want some proper tail out fun like those guys! I love 'em to bits...literally sometimes! :D

I say go for it KTP, these are perhaps a little slower, but so more fun than modern cars! I've got one going cheap that would be ideal for modifying and "playing with" but it looks like you live rather a long way from me!

Not a big fan of the burgundy - they did seem to do a good line in old bathroom colours back then!
