Paint - scratch repair

Featured Replies

Can anyone recommend a paint shop in the Leicester / Coventry / Birmingham area?

I've got a couple of scratches - both down to the primer but not the metal as far as I can see. Chipsaway have already had a look and said both scratches are too deep for them to do. One is about 12 inches long on a rear door, and the other is about 5 inches long on the drivers door (opposite sides of the car).

The car is less than a year old, so I want a decent job, but don't want to pay the earth.

I've been to the dealer who've quoted me a price with not much change from a grand.

Chipsaway recommended MSM in Hinckley, though I've no idea if they're any good.

Has anyone any recommendations?

I have used Chipsaway twice, the guy has been very friendly and has done an excellent job on one particularly bad dent with scratch.

I would ask another chipsaway franchise to take a look.

brasso see if it will hide it?

I took your advice and spoke to another ChipsAway Franchisee. He said exactly the same as the first, (problem being a scratch that's in the middle of the door) but he knew of another ChipsAway that has better equipment that should be able to sort it.

I'll be taking the car down tomorrow for them to take a look. Having described the scratches to them, they are very confident they'll be able to sort it for me :D :D

I'll let you know how I get on tomorrow - I'll also try to get some before and after pics.

I've seen the chipsaway training video and they scratch the wing (or possibly door) of a car very badly with a stone and repair it. I don't know why they say if it's down to the metal they can't do anything about it. If it's a scratch in the lacquer I can fix that myself (with plenty of patience) so what service are they actually offering?
