Anyone driven both petrol and diesel VRs?

Featured Replies

Was just wondering if anyone had and if so was there much of a performance difference and if so where?

My car had been in today for some warranty work and the sales manager is running a diesel VRs and he reckoned the diesel pulled slightly better in the mid range although through the gears the petrol VRs was ultimately quicker.

tested the deisal and found it lacking, particularly at low revs, compared to the petrol coupled to the fact that the rev range is narrow and that the petrol allready as ample torque, 6 gears etc etc, If you are a confirmed diesal freak or require diesal due to company comitments then it will be the way to go but otherwise petrol petrol petrol.

After Shifty's post in a recent thead, I have decided that I will stick with petrol.

People say try, it but I think along the same lines as Shifty....

Tried the derv thought it was great engine, tried the petrol one today.

It is ok, but i still prefer the way the derv drives. Either way both are good cars, let down IMHO by very sparse equipment levels.

Take them both for a drive as everyone likes different things.

Don't get me wrong, I love the way swibo's vRS drives but I still like the top end of the Octavia. Even Diesel drivers have voiced that they would like more top end.

Surely, the diesel is cheaper to run ?

The derv VRs Octy II is totally different IMHO to the furby, you can't base judgement of one on the other.

However the only way you will ever decide is to try both cars and see which you prefer.
