Fabia vRS seats need cleaning

Featured Replies

Driver/ passenger seats are starting to look a bit under the weather. What's the best thing to clean them with without making them too wet and NO i can't afford the Leather option..:( ..professional valet??

Professional valet is the best (and easiest!) way of getting them clean imho ;)

Autoglym foam upholstery cleaner does it for me

I use the spray one :)

I used 1001 foam cleaner with the built in plastic scrubber. It worked a treat. Just need to work it in really well ( a bit of elbow grease). Doesn't make the seats too damp and cleans them well. All it needed was a hoover once I'd finished scrubbing.

1001 Thats the best stuff. Just rub it in and dry off with a towel. Job done

Ps. Scotchgard the seats and you just need to do them with a damp cloth!!

I took mine to a (semi) professional valet centre. If you get the inside clean enough (hoovered etc) and ask them to do the shampoo of the seats / carpets only thats the best way - mines come up lovely both times I've had them done.

TIP: Ask them for the cost before they get a look at your car if possible - they might decide to charge more if they know you got light coloured upholstery!

I bought the VAX cleaning system from Argos a while back. If used correctly, it's not 'too' bad!

Get a pack of soda crystals from Tesco for 70p and use a medium mix. Scrub in with a brush (not too coarse), then wipe off with a damp Miracle Cloth, you know those things you get in the supermarkets with the multi fibre thingys. My seats come up like new, and I do them every other month. Being a driving instructor, have to keep the car looking neat, and this is the best and cheapest way of doing it. The light grey upholstery is a nightmare as we all know, but we're stuck with it, so there's your answer. SAJNA

Might have to do this due to an incident with a coke bottle that had obviously been shaken :(

Ouch! The worst of that is that it's difficult to get the sugar out so even more muck sticks if any was left in :shakehead unless it was diet coke which only needs the colour stain removing.

FAO ag. : There are quite a few threads in the Styling forum on this. My summary of them would be that the professional treatment is best and most foolproof. Costly perhaps, but not too bad if only needed occasionally - get quotes. Some go with the soda method, though it doesn't work for others. Overwetting as you say is not good. If wetting at all, I'd vacuum the water out with a carpet shampooer attachment and leave windows open so to dry out thoroughly (wrong time of year now though). Also, if treating a stain, it's best to treat the whole seat to avoid a patchy look.

HTH, and if not, I can always knit you some new covers in snazzy zebra stripe?
