New owner, few questions

Featured Replies

Hi there,

Picked up my 55 plate Fabia vRS in black magic yesterday and I'm very impressed, spent today taking care of a few scratches and cleaning it up. I have a couple of questions:

What should the tyre pressures be?

Also; the garage agreed to give the car its 10,000 mile service as part of the deal, the book has been stamped and it says the oil has been changed. Checked the oil today and it's black, couldn't find the oil filter but it looks to me like they didn't bother. Should the oil be this colour?

Cheers,

It's not uncommon to see very dirty looking oil in a diesel engine.

Tyre pressures will be in the manual or inside the fuel filler cap.

Oh and welcome to Briskoda:P

Hi Neil,

I'm a new vRS owner too, but I've had VAG TDis for years now. The oil always looks dirty straight after a change- but it feels different and the car will be quieter. I've changed oil myself once my cars are out of warranty, and it's black straight away. Don't worry. It's an indicator it's doing it's job by holding particles in suspension.

Welcome to Briskoda!

depending on trye type ,I have conti sport 2 tyres and many on here set then to 34psi front and 32psi back. It is different to what the inside of the filler cap tells you but it feels far better and less "sloppy" i'm sure others will agree
