Possible to have Alarm and Remote Central Locking fitted?

Featured Replies

Heya,

I own a W-reg 1.4 16v Comfort Edition Skoda Fabia.

Recently I've noticed it would be a great benefit for me to install remote central locking, also the need for an Alarm. You might think this is stupid as the car is already 6 years old but I bought it second hand and only had it for a few months. This is the newest car I've ever owned and its in such good condition I am hoping to keep it for a few years until the price of the VRS go down.

So can my car be upgraded by a dealer to have an Alarm and Remote Central Locking fitted? If so, how much will it most likely to cost.

Thank you.

Yes, you can get an alarm fitted that activates the central locking from the alarm fob. I had a sigma M30 on my old octy vRS and used the alarm fob to lock / unlock the car rather than the key buttons. I would use a alarm specialist though rather than your dealer.

Should your car not already have Remote CL? Mine has , with the 'flick' style key , and its a 2000 on a V plate (1.4 8V Comfort). It also has a factory fit alarm but I'm guessing that was optional.

I had a mitsubishi and it had central locking to make it remote (ie. with a fob) it was about £100 using a Cobra system. Best of speaking to your local autoelectrician, they'll be able to advise on cost.
