Thinking of buying a vRS

Featured Replies

Okay - 1st post here. Here goes. :)

I'm seriously thinking of changing my 1.2 16V 51-plate Clio for a brand new Fabia vRS. I've got some questions though...

What's the current status of the waiting list?

Can anyone hazard a guess at what residuals will be like? If I buy today for

Welcome to Briskoda and the ranks of Fabia vRS ownership. (Hopefully!)

Jeff has already answered your questions as well as I could have, so won't add anything to that.

Will just point out that Ford have stopped the production of the Focus RS now, so you'll have to look further afield for a hatch with equal torque! ;)

My local dealer has got some 'unclaimed' Fabia vRS's coming.....week 6 or 8 or something like that. If there is anyone wanting one pretty quick, PM me and I'll give you some contact details!! (Not sure what is forum etiquette about promoting Skoda dealers etc)!!

They shift so many now that they just pre-empt the demand and get the orders in months before people come to order, or do some factory build slot dealing.....whatever that is!!

Thanks for the replies! If I were to use somewhere like buyyourskoda.co.uk or drivethedeal.co.uk what are the delays like? It seems as if I can complete the order with either of these places in the next couple of days - pay my deposit, but then how long do I wait for the car?

Not sure about colour, my Clio is metallic black and I always said I didn't want another black car - show's up the dirt to much. Silver is pretty common, red tends to fade in time and yellow is a bit in your face...

Not sure, need to have a sniff around the showroom in person I think!

If I understand the way that this site works.......they take your order and then approach a high street dealer to do the actual deal with you. You still end up in the midst of the Fabia waiting game!!! :D

and yellow is a bit in your face...

That's the one to go for then ..............if you're going to have a vRS , have one that gets noticed ..............not that I'm biased in any way ;)

Exactly what I said, then I popped down to the local dealer and they had my black magic Fabia in there, paid the deposit there and then.

Just clean it every week and polish every month, gleams like a good un and looks fab ;)

I'd agree with you there Mikey :)

So would the guy in a TT the other night who was most put out that a little Skoda was still on his tailpipes :)

Local garage have sold their demo and aren't getting a new one for a few weeks. I'll get a test drive then. Without having been down to the garage yet I'm thinking about colours. What's the yellow like? Is it like the Seat/Ferrari yellow, very bold or more like the VW or Mini yellow, more pale. It's not clear from the photos I've seen?

Someone's thrown a spanner in the works by saying that the 115bhp TDCi Focus Zetec can be found for less than

Its in a different class of car though.

Focus is in the same catergory as Golf/Leon/Octy so its a little unfair to group it with the Fabia.

But my 2p's worth is that the Ford is of now quite an old design and the 'edge' looks of the Focus are dating fast. Handling is good for what it is but the Ford diesel unit although a massive improvement over the old 1.8 TDi units is still no where near as good or refined as the PD engine.

Plus in the Focus TDCI @ 12k do you get the same spec as the Fabia?

I have driven thousands of miles in most of the Focus range (except the RS) and really liked most models. The best advice I can give is to have test drives in the Focus TDCi and Fabia Vrs and come to an informed decision from that. I own two Skodas and would unreservedly recommend the Octavia. The Fabia comes from the same mould, and the Vrs version in particular has an excellent reputation with Briskoda members. :)

From my experience i nearly brought a focus a few years ago, the main thing that put me off was the dealers, none really wanted to know me (i was 21 at the time) and that every one that i know had problems in getting theirs serviced due to the amount of owners.

Skoda dealers on the other hand have always been helpful and freindly so i went with them and have been pleased with my choice

I drive a focus all day long at work, and hammer it about, Im a copper. although ours are only pathetic 1.4's I wouldn't say the handling is all that great, I've seen a few writen off. Your best bet is to drive both though and see which you prefere.
