Featured Replies

here's a question for all you internet boffins to answer.....

is it possible to make my computer automatically store frequently visited websites into a kind of cache so that the webpages load more quickly??

do i need some sort of software to do that or can i use windows xp to do it??

It already does it!

It already does it!

huh??

what sort of stuff does it store??

Everything except for HTTPS pages. html, graphics, you name it. Once you have visited a site, the next time you go there it checks to see if the pages have changed and downloads the changes only. Once your webcache is full, then it starts deleting the oldest least visited stuff. Default size is 10% of your HD in IE.

oh right! that sounds like a good idea to me!! why didn't i think of that??

I have been using google web accelerator for quite a while now - it pre-fetches web pages for you.

Seems to be ok, and certainly isn't any slower. The performance data it gathers for itself tells me that it has saved me 8 hours in 1.7 days of web browsing so about 20% faster.
