RS Problems

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I am on the whole totally over the moon with my RS but has anyone experience this kind of problem before and if so, what was done to remedy the situation?

The engine is making a 'ticking' sound (no, it's not a bomb and/ or just normal engine noises or me going insane!) at idle which seems to be coming from an exhaust recirculating valve just above the windscreen wash bottle. I took this to the dealer today who replaced this valve FOC but the problem is still there!

Any suggestions (I believe it could be they have fitted a defect new part??) and/ or if anyone has experienced this before I'd be grateful of any advice.

Cheers

Hugh

P.S Any fellow Jock's out there??

Thats the power steering reservoir isn't it? Could it be injectors???

Most of them do sound "rattly", its the hydraulic tappets I believe, especially on start up - but then I suppose that would be one of your "normal" noises.

Can't say I've had this on mine, and I've had mine for about 15 months and have done a few miles (73,500).

Oh and there are quite a few sweaty socks out there. There's the poor bloke who had his white RS really badly graffitied, theres a couple of black ones oh and one in that rather exclusive RS colour, "hairdresser yellow"

There is a charcoal filter in the vicinity of the wash bottle and it's perfectly normal for it to tick occasionally (or so said my service manager when I asked him the one and only time mine did it).

I would think this to be normal too it's just that mine seems to be making the rattling noise constantly.

Tobmob,

I take it you took exception to something in my post :(

Dare I enquire as to which particular insult it was? For future reference.

NB I am watching this post carefully to make sure it doesn't go off at a tangent! If it does, I will move it swiftly to My Maintenance where 'someone else' can moderate it. 8)

Shugz......Yeah there a few jocks online, scattered to the four winds, but none, at the moment North of Kirrie. Reference a quote from Taviars, I'm the one with the graffitied car. :)

I used to be north of you BAAHEED - spent 7 years in Aberdeen but now down in Edinburgh - I have spotted a few RSs around here - not sure if anyone else from Auld Reekie reads this though.......

As for the tapping noise - yes mine does it at standstill - could well do it at speed but kinda hard to hear.........
