Low temperature bong.

Featured Replies

Both my old RS and my current diesel did exactly the same.

The bongs in the MK2 Octy are very aircraft like in my opinion, as mentioned the low fuel tone in the courtesy Fabia I had made me jump the first time (and the second time actually :) ) I heard it!

I agree, the only bong I have heard so far is the headlights left on sound. Very teasteful compared to the scream that the Pug 306 emitted!!

So that is why it make such "boing" noise. :)

The moment I've sat in a car, seatbelt worning noise was much freakvent, and got * sign on a maxidot. I did not hear any subsequent noise. Maybe it's the laude music I have in my car all the time.

CHEERS!

I was out last night, temperature varying above and below 4degrees, so bonging quite often! Then further bong to announce "refuel now" The low fuel warning light came and went, presumably fuel surging in tank on corners?

Miles to go was on 60, is that about usual for low fuel warning?

How accurate is it?

How close to tanks dry?

Low fuel warning on my Mk II 1.9PD is at 75 miles.

Wheres my cold temp Bong gone , want it back , how does one reinstate .

But the mileage-to-empty estimate depends on how you're driving at the time - put your foot hard down after a period of gentle driving and watch the mileage-to-go reduce by 5 miles for every one you travel as it recalculates.

My impression is that the low fuel bong is when the needle reaches the end of the white scale and starts to move into the red bit - I actually warn passengers that a bong is coming up shortly and so far have always been right.

Now, if there was a way of stopping the annoying "Please fasten seat belts" bing-bing-bing.... There are times when you don't want or need to be belted up, and I don't need to be nannied at my age!

Low fuel warning on my Leon is 7.5 litres left in tank. I presume the Octavia will be exactly the same. It will say in the owners manual.

Thanks for the info,

Re the seat belts, my Octy II is silent, just a message on Maxidot "Please fasten seat belt" Then that goes and there is only the red seatbelt warning light until you belt up.

Is it silent because of maxidot? Is it one of these Vag-com options?

Seat bealt bong switchable in vagcom.

I am glad in that case that mine is switched OFF. Quite enough bonging going on already.

All these warning sounds can be off putting. Mine screamed at me yesterday as I was getting out. Couldn't figure out why then finally realised I'd left the indicator stalk on "left". Big deal!!

leaving the indicator on left (or right!) when you remove the ignition key activates the parking lights - hence the "bong" to alert yoy the lights were left -

god save the bong!!:D
