Front Bumper Help..... Moral Very Low!

Featured Replies

Hey all,

Really sorry, if there is one of these posts else where, but I could not find one myself, unless I missed it. I really need help; I bought a VRS front bumper for my SLX Octavia and have literally put my heart and soul into removing the paint, sanding, re-spraying etc

Between 98 and 2002 there was a facelift. I would not be sure in saying this but i have a feeling that might affect things.

i'll fire up ETOS and have a look!

right, it seems that the whole front end of the vrs is different, so you would need the lock carrier/cross members and the front crash bar as well!! to change those over you'd have to strip the whole of the front of the car down and take the wings off too!

so in a way you would facelift your car without buying a new car! go to the scrappies! sure you can find some front wings bonnet grill and bits for your car pretty cheap:)

no no, the wings are the same, but you have to take them off to with the locka carrier panel

I have seen the vRS bumper mounted on older octavias, they cant all be changing their fronts. If the mounts are in the same place, I wonder it modifying the bumper to fit by trimming/cutting is possible.

This could be more interesting than i thought! Not 100% sure, but looks to me like the headlights are a different shape! On my Octy the bottom is parallel to the top, where as the facelift octy VRS has a sloping bottom edge (i think)

Yes, the headlights are totally different, surely you'd noticed that before now?

I'll have a look at a preface lift against mine in the carpark at lunch and confirm this, but I am also fairly certain the two are different.

Lets play spot the difference!

The bottom one is moving!

what do I win?

I think you should be able to get away with the lights looking at the one in the carpark.

Obviously don't hold me to that but I think they will still fit externally. IIRC Haynes shows a different adjusting mechanism for the face lifted car over the pre-face lift one, so you might actually be looking at havnig to put some clear lights from a breakers on and selling your lights on if you change the bars behind it all.
