Anyone running Tarox calipers?

Featured Replies

Have been offered a brake upgrade, using 10-pot Tarox calipers. Very tempted especially as it sounds like a properly serious upgrade! I was going to go down the well-trodden 312mm upgrade path shortly anyway.

Just wondering about minimum wheel size required, and also, perhaps more importantly, caliper clearance.

Any advice/feedback would be appreciated.

hmmm, they are big beasties, and I dont usually say things like this, but 10 pots are a bit overkill , your or my car really wouldnt do them justice. if you are determined to go bigger then 4 pots are more than ample, IMHO of course.

but i do understand the thoughts going through your head when you hear of things like this going at a nice price, its a "got to have them" moment :D

If it's the same ones i was looking at ( simon ) you'll need 17's spaced or 18's

Cracking deal at that price. :)

Glad i just got 18"s

Cheers for the replies - I couldn't possibly comment Glider ;)

Just wondering if I can go down the same route as I was attempting with the Fabia? I was eventually going to sort some Brembo 323s for that, if things had gone to plan, so got some Avus rims from the S3 as I knew these had decent caliper clearance. But would these be enough for these Tarox beasties?

Absolutely agree with the overkill comment, but they are uber-cool and if they're available, why not?! :D

Cheers,

Steve

Good enough reason as any ;)

 it's terrible isn't it, but somethings are just too difficult to refuse!

May still stick with a pretty stock 312mm upgrade, looking to use DS2500 pads though. If I wasn't forced to use a bigger wheel to fit these on I'd have probably already bought them. Don't particularly want to have to buy a new set of rims; not just yet anyway. Yet another reason for the insurers to squeeze more money out of me

Steve

I thought these would have been snapped up by now, and yes i think they'll fit under S3 rims, a guy up here is runnung 323's with quite a bit of clearance. :)

If only he wasn't so far away.

I was thinking the same thing. Where's he based anyway - I forgot to ask when I talked to him.

Still don't get the whole 4 pot thing...pads n fluid n discs.

Maybe I need to try a 4 pot car, but the octy 312 setup stops my octy well enough.

Catch scoobies and catherhams in braking zone on track etc...through later braking not inefficient braking :)

Actually about to swap from the 2500's to try anohter pad type. I've done 40k and a few track days and quite a lot of heavy braking :D on the 2500 setup and cannot fault it with black diamond discs.

Time to evaluate another manufacturer in the name of science.

Don't tarox pads wear quite quickly /overheard this on another forum/person.

I'm running Tarox G88 discs and tarox fast road pads on all four wheels on the Octy vRs with Silkolene 2000 Pro Race brake fluid, and really cannot fault the set up.
