Superb 1.8T engine specs?

Featured Replies

A fellow Dutch Skoda driver would like to know his Superb 1.8T's engine specs. I hope the limo drivers can be of some help here.

It's the 150 hp AWT engine with the original K03 turbo, and it is (or was) also regularly seen in A4s, A6s and Passats - that's all I know. So is this one of the older throttle-cabine engines (as opposed to drive-by-wire) and how vulnerable is it to VAG's common coilpack problem?

The AWT does indeed have a different turbo to Octavias with the AUM/ARX/AUQ engine. The spark plugs listed are 06B 905 115H/J - so potentially the same problem as other 1.8Ts if it has the H. As for the throttle, the harness in the engine compartment is for models with electronic throttle control, and the only accelerator pedal listed in ETKA is that with electronic module. The cylinder head is the same as the AUM/ARX/AUQ which would point to the engine being VVT.

All very interesting because I had assumed that it would be exactly the same spec engine as in our Octavias. Incidentally, it meets EU-4/2DDK emission regulations.

Thanks, Denis. Much obliged!

So a drive-by-wire, VVT, EU4 but standard K03 150 hp engine... Which would limit performance upgrades to about 195 hp, right?

Mattijs, Jabba quote 196-205bhp from a remapped cable throttle AGV engine (1999-2000). But that is probably non-VVT.

Im getting a 1.8T comfort soon, Im just looking for a good price

Any Ideas on how the engine sounds, is there a turbocharged whine?

Reviving this thread for a - runs for cover - Seat Alhambra 1.8T 150hp driver... :D

Would anyone know which 1.8T is in this car? Is it the same as the Superb engine, so with the small K03, or is it similar to our Octavia engines, so with the K03sport? He would like to know his tuning potential...

No luck finding the answer on the net, Mattijs. The Octavia and Superb 1.8Ts develop 150hp at5700rpm and 210Nm at 1750rpm - the Alhambra 1.8T 150hp at 5800rpm and 210Nm at 1850rpm. The following link gives an idea of what can be extracted from the Alhambra's engine:

Thanks for your trouble, Denis.

Problem is, he thinks he's being shafted by his unknowledgeable Seat dealer. He was told 230 hp was the maximum for the engine (so can't be anything else than K03sport) but that it would be on the edge, and therefore the dealer advised to go with the 200 hp chip.

Now I know for a fact that apart from a 230 hp program said tuner also has a 210 hp program for the K03sport engines and that the 200 hp chip is for K03 engines...

Another issue is the fact that the dealer said it would be OK to use RON95 petrol whereas said tuner states that you must use RON98 - so he could use some ammo against his dealer!

Have looked everywhere on the net for Alhambra engine specs, but couldn't find them. Have advised him to inform over at seatcupra.net - they might know.
