I am due to collect a new Fabia vRS this weekend and would appreciate your advice on what items to check when the hand over time comes?

I have looked for earlier threads but nothing seems to have been collected together for this purpose.

This is my first post and after reading through some of the earlier posts on this forum I have to say that I am most impressed with the depth of knowledge and friendliness I have come across.

Well having just picked up mine a few weeks ago:

• Check for creased rear seat covers (Mine had this)
  
• Check for lumps in the paintwork (my spoiler and passenger sill had lumps UNDER the paint, which according to the dealer is impossible...)
  
• Stutter at 1.8k revs (Mine had this too...)
  
• If you have xenons specced, ask them to raise them to the legal limit at PDI (as they are always too low in my experience)
  
• Obviously check for scratches, swirl marks or any paintwork defects before you leave the dealer, as returning later with a scratch is much harder to prove you didnt do it!

If it's been stood outside, you may want to check the rear door cards and seals for signs of dampness as this is a known problem that will be more prevalent in this weather!

Check alloys are not scratched.

Check all switchgear works and revcounter and multi trip computer

Check fuel filler cap release switch opens and just as important closes

Check oil level

Check you have owners manual, radio manual and all paperwork.

Everything was OK on my car

I did none of this all i wanted was the keys and to get going for a spin.

Oh and of course the all important radio code!

Radio is coded to the loom IIRC.

Check for gear lever rattle too.

... And for the brakes graunching in reverse.

gear lever rattle when stood at idle and when accalerating hard in gear.

When checking switches rear heated window switch is known to stick in needs a bit planing from side iirc.
