Octavia VRS WRC standard head unit

Featured Replies

Hi

Can anyone clarify the headunit that would originally have been fitted in the Octavia VRS WRC.

I purchased the car recently and it had a panasonic unit in which does not control the multidisc.

I have purchased a symphony tape unit off ebay which is stuck in safe mode:thumbdwn: :(

The multichanger is being powered up so I know that works.

Despite using the original ISO lead this headunit does not light up with main lights on or switch itself off when I remove ignition keys.

I am toying with biting the bullet and buying the original Skoda CD headunit but would like to know the model to try hunting for the best deal first.

Thanks:thumbup:

It should be the symphony. IIRC it has a CD rather than a tape.

Yep as Quinten says, mine came with a symphony CD headunit and 6cd boot changer.

Wont the wires have been changed over to use the aftermarket head unit ????

The lights arent coming on cause of no power, try changing them over.

My vRS has a tape head unit.

You need the code for the symphony, then enter it manually or get the dealer to program the ecu for the headunit. The later option means you wont need to enter the code.

Does the cars wiring look like its been tampered with?.

The original power lead plug is still in position, the speaker wires had been chopped but I have added a new plug onto them.

I was just wondering of the wiring to the CD unit varied from the tape unit.

Will I have any issues at the dealers reprogramming ECU for this headunit as it is one I purchased off ebay?

The Symphony now installed actually sounds much better than the Panasonic!!

The main reason I have gone for this is to use the fitted CD changer.

good point

i went down the mp3 hu route 8-10 albums on one disc replaces the need for a changer
