Warning buzzer not sounding when lights on and door open

Featured Replies

Just noticed that the buzzer to warn of the lights being left on does not sound when I open the driver's door. The interior light comes on and the door open lamp illuminates on the dash.

Any ideas?

Did you get this sorted with changing the fuse? I have the same problem on 1.4 petrol fabia, changing the fuse has made no difference. Sure I have read somewhere that there is a microswitch in the lock assembly that may need changing.....

If neither the light on buzzer nor the door open or low temp gong (if fitted) is working that wil be a faulty buzzer on the instrument cluster. New cluster im afraid, common problem.

I also have this problem on a 2004 Octavia TDi. The problem (from previous info on forum) is that the sensor is in the door lock.

Does your "puddle light"(at the bottom of the door) come on? Mine comes on briefly as does the buzzer, but only briefly, and if you open the door quickly with the lights left on you wont hear the buzzer at all.

So unless you want to change the lock(thats what the dealers will offer!) you will just have to live with the inconvenience. Sorry.:(

Noticed yesterday that mine has stopped working also, however that's along with the interior light and the fuel pump pre-prime (2003 Octy RS) so I'm pretty certain it's the drivers door lock mechanism in my case.

Such a common fault my local dealer (Bamfords of Gloucester) always keep 2 door locks in stock.
