nearside window replaced - winder not connected

Featured Replies

Hi,

I had my rear nearside window smashed by a thief today, Autoglass came out and replaced the glass but he said he could not connect the winder mechanism. The window is now fixed in place with sticky tape, to stop it going up and down. I was thinking of taking the door skin off myself and having a look at the mech, anyone got any thoughts on this ? BTW my Octavia II 2.0 TDI is only two months old.

thanks

If you made an insurance claim then it is up to them to get it fixed. If you paid Autoglass to do the job then that would normally be an all inclusive price so either way I wouldn't be touching it myself.

what he said.

You have to complain mate, thats not even half a job which ever way you look at it:thumbdwn:

Refund or finish what they started.

Hope you get it sorted.

They buggered it up - they should sort it out!

thanks for the replies guys, I ended up taking it to Simpsons of Colne (which is where I bought the car). They diagnosed that the autoglass engineer smashed the regulator - but they can't put it in writing. I had to pop back to get it replaced (

Hmm I'd have gone to autoglass and demanded they fixed it.

Was it an insurance job?

Autoglass have come up with a cheque for the work carried out at the Skoda dealer, so I have to give them credit for doing the right thing. With hindsight I will drive to a depot to get the window replaced, if this happens again. They didn't acccept liability, but said the engineer should have explained things better.

Anytime I've used Autoglass I've found them to be totally ****e, frankly

Lets just hope they havent billed your insurance company for the cheque you recieved.
