TomTom GO910

Featured Replies

To add to my other thread, I will now be travelling abroad. It's a TomTom GO 910 Which also contains Europe etc. Do i need to install it before i go, or will it take me abroad from start up?

Will work from startup, the 910 already contains the maps. You will need to switch maps in the menu once abroad.

PS. If its eire you are going to then dont bother with the 910 as only NI has coverage and thats limited.

Hi. I'm travelling from Dover to France to Spain and then to Portugal. When you say i'll need to switch maps in the menu, What does that exactly mean? Will it not pick up my location automatically?

If I spent that kinda cash I'd expect it to work without switching. What's the point of not being able to plan the whole route in one hit, adding in stops for fuel/food/rest?

Sounds like it would annoy me that feature :(

Well you will get the major roads in europe without switching, but they can be useless. Its no good being told to take the 2nd road on the left, when in fact in reality its a small road that the major roads of europe doesnt know about.

The switch only takes a second, and once done you get the whole of the rest of europe. It seems just the UK is separate.

To switch,

Change Preferences, Manage Maps, Switch Map.

Just done this on the 910 I have here and it seems the map options are:

Canary Islands

Guam

North America

Western and Central Europe.

So my mistake the UK and europe are complete on the same map.

Cool & thanks for checking that. Now I just have to convince SWMBO I'm allowed to spend the cash :D
