Cerco Ad.

Featured Replies

I have just been watching a re run of Top Gear on UKTV Gold2, and there was an ad for Cerco computer training. So, I poped on their site and took thier online test!

Well, turns out I got 100% but the questions were too easy, so it makes me think that the training they provide must be pretty basic.

Anywho, thats not the reason why Im posting this - I reckon that everyone who reads this should take the test and post their result, and we can see just how geeky we are - or how easy the test it :D

Heres the site...

Cerco Test (CLICKY)

Good luck chaps (and chappetas)

EDIT, Ive sussed out why its so easy...

Kwality with a kapital K.

Bleeding thing doesn't work in FF 2.0, what a load of crap.

The style of the first question looks so bad i can't believe they actually think it is a serious test.

I work in IT for a worldwide IT company. Cerco has a great reputation and we recruit from there as do many other blue chip companies. The training is fairly broad, both hardware and software and personal demeanour. It is expensive but then you are guaranteed job offers. Decent ones too, most include company car. My mate did it when he was made redundant, i didn`t have to he got me the job in the same company 6 mths later, never looked back. A lot of the lads who leave the Armed Forces spend there training money here. My present manager did Cerco 10 years ago after being in the army for 25 years (WO1) he has done really well.

Either you know a bit about IT or the test is easy just to get you interested.

It`s a good way to get into IT. Just think about spending the money or loan as an investment in your self.

The test questions are really old though - it mentions copyright 1997 and it's certainly not up to date. The answers to some of the questions asked are more incorrect by today's computing standards!

But if you only need to get 65% to qualify for an interview, then it's only to filter out people who have no real understanding in PCs anyways. I'm sure if you go for an interview, the approach is far more professional and up to date. The whole testing website needs a complete overhaul IMHO

Oh apparently I got 96% I wish I knew which question I answered incorrectly though as I'd probably argue

I got 83% and have had no computer training, ever.

Just had a phone call from cerco asking if I was looking for employment in the IT industry, keen arn't they, bit miffed when I explained it was a bit of fun, brisky not mentioned though.

They also wanted to know why I put my e-mail address as cerco @ taztastic etc.

I told them that if I get replies to this address I know they have sold it on and have divulged my details.

root@ usually gets a fun response.

These courses are totally worthless.

Tehehe, they phoned me today but my mum answered, and she didnt know about me taking the test - until my dad told her.

I might take it a few more times with some false names & phone numbers for the fun of it!

So, Im thinking of Uni and studying Networks & Computing, but I would consider this Cerco thing now after the interesting reply from "Mouse", just a shame its so far away from me. Computer Systems and Networking it says on the email...

Congratulations! You scored 100% on the Online Technical Test at Welcome to Cerco - Cerco I.T. Training and Recruitment Ltd. This score fulfils the technical standard required to apply for a limited place on our Fast Track Course in Computer Systems and Networking (CCSN).

Should I, shouldnt I? I would have to get a loan of course, but hey ho.

:P

WTF I only got 96%!:Yikes:

I have no idea which question I got wrong

I might get our lass to take the test in a bit, she knows enough about computers to get her by but her Dad is a computer buff like me :D That way I can see if either me or her Dad have had any influence on her

Update: She got 47% but hey, she doesnt need to know what DIMM RAM is, and IDE cables etc.

I received a phone call, and they sounded pretty desperate

I did then admit that I was in employment and not really thinking of moving. The chap did back down but said to give them a call if ever I wanted a career change :)

These courses are totally worthless.

Would have to disagree with you and echo the sentiments of Mouse - the courses are worthwhile, and even at
