octavia head unit

Featured Replies

i have recently put an after market head unit in my mk1 octy vrs and for some reason it does not come on when i put the key in the ignition and turn it on. does any body know why not? its not the fuse as i have already changed it. i checked the ignition live wire in the iso connector and it didnt live up when the ignition was swithched on. andy body have any ideas?

thanks in advance

Have you used the VW wiring adaptor to convert the cars wiring to the HU. If not which colour wires did you swap?.

I would consider the adaptor, as I have posted before the connector on the car although it looks like an ISO connector is not fully compliant. The power leads (switched and permenant) are reversed and pin 1 serves as a connection to the cars ecu. Pin 1 is normally used for other purposes on aftermarket HUs and can cause the cars ecu to misbehave if left connected.

yeah, swapped the red and yellow wires as described in many other posts but it does not seem to live up.

the iso connector on the radio side only uses 4 wires. ground, battery live, ignition live and the plain blue one which i beleive would be the link up for the acc function. if the car had it.

problem solved. it was fuse number 10!!! dont know what the pwtrol engine control unit has to do with the radio bu the fuse was blown so i replaced it and hey presto the radio now works as it should.

so you can all sit back and relax and worry no more.

thanks any way tho mannyo.
