Accessories for my Canon EOS 400d

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I'm well happy with my camera but people are starting to ask me what I want for Christmas, and I've suggested some accessories.

I'm looking at a range of filters, as well as one for protection. A tripod, and lens cleaners. Any of you have any suggestions? so I can ship out my pressie list to santa :)

Cheers

some lenses perhaps?

A friend of mine will let me demo his Sigma lens on my camera, similar to the one listed in the thread below.

I'm thinking more of accessories up to

Cable release - like having the shutter button on the end of a wire. Makes for better tripod shots as you don't touch the camera. Ebay cheap versions are quite good.

If you have a flash gun then a sto-fen diffuser for it - softens all the harsh shadows.

Of the filters... Circular Polariser will make a big difference to landscapes and a Neutral density graduated (ND grad) will let you expose for bright skies and dull land correctly. By all means use a UV for basic protection but give any effects type filters a miss.

Spare batteries. Think 7dayshop do them for your camera - cheap and good.

Memory card? You should be shooting in RAW for best pictures and control and those files are large.

Card reader? So much easier than messing with USB leads.

Hope that helps :)

If you haven't already, get yourself the vertical grip. It will give you more to "hold" onto; Kinda like love handles I guess. It will also allow you to do portrait shots a lot easier. You can use two sets of batteries with the grip too, so you'll get more shooting time.

Deffo agree with grip, polariser and battery.

Memory cards - you can NEVER have enough!
