Drove past Horners Skoda in Bury and seen two chaps putting up a dealership for sale sign:eek: whats happining with Skoda dealers closeing down I got good service from Gorners in Warrington they closed and I moved to Horners Bury and now they seem to be closing. I might as well take the Fab VRS to a VW dealer as Horners is the only skoda outlet in Bury area.

Blimey,i hope not rallysnapper!not a bad bunch in bury dealership.

Try Simpsons in Colne.

Just a few miles along the M65 and closer to Bury than Warrington.:D

HTH.

I don't know what's going on! Loosing Gorners in Warrington was bad enough. Not that it bothers me as much as it used to mind ;)

Still concerning though - why are dealers closing? I would imagine they're selling more nationwide than ever before? Or are SUK upto something - wouldn't surprise me

Would be very surprised if Horners were closing down. Bought 2 Fabias from new off them, but my VRS is from Simpsons at Colne.

The dealership is a bit on the small side though, with a small forecourt and not much parking. Don't suppose they are moving to another site, are they?

Been on their group website, which seems very much business as usual...

Is/was it a small dealer per chance?

Quite a large group - 2 Skoda dealers, a Mitsubishi, FIAT and old Rover dealers.

That's pretty much what happened with Gorners in Warrington last year though. And they had the advantage of a decent showroom, good location and plenty of parking. IIRC, the website was still online when the dealership had closed! Very much a case of 'here today, gone tomorrow'.

Shame.

Horners Bury Skoda is closing at the end of November but Horners Manchester Skoda is staying open.

I don't have inside info - I just rang them up to ask!!

I've just been in to Horners. They are relocating to Manchester....

Oh well - Woodheads will still get my business.

Ive been to Manchester I bought the Fab VRS here but if Bury was small you cannot swing a spanner at Manchester let alone park your skoda. Anyhow I wont ever be going back to Manchester Skoda to long a story ...they dont need my money. :finger:

The Manchester showroom isn't highly rated on here! I'm sure that Bury was likely to have been more successful and seemed to have the better quality of staff imo.

However, the guy I used to deal with at Bury left several years back and I don't think they've been the same since.

Parkside aren't a main dealer anymore, are they Andy? Last time I went past the garage, they didn't have the corporate green and silver Skoda signs on the showroom.

Im pretty sure they are no longer approved for New Car Sales.

They can get new cars in if you ask through their sources, although Simpsons prices are pretty good too.

I think Parkside may still be Skoda approved for service work, and I guess these days even that isn't a requirement for keeping up your warranty.

There's a new dealership called Chapel House, situated in Wigan. I think the North West seems to be losing Skoda dealers like the plague at the moment!

I got my nearly new VRS off Anthony at Simpsons in September. Not my nearest dealer, but the one I will be using from now on. They even advertised in the Chorley Citizen several weeks ago, some 20 odd miles away from Colne!

Personally I would set myself on fire before using Horner's in Manchester again. Don't do it.....

Parkside were always OK, if they're not a main dealer anymore, can they still do the warranty work???

got a letter today from horners to confirm the close of bury! aswell as manchester they are moving some of the staff to rochdale (mitsubishi dealership) they state to take on service work for skoda but not francise!!

I got a letter to. So is the one near Trafford Center still there?

It's not just the north west mate, south east is losing Skoda dealerships at the same rate we're losing water!!

The 3 nearest dealers to me have all gone, and another one has lost it's dealership status but continues to offer warranty work under 'satellite dealer' status.

They are listed as an "authorised repairer" on Skoda UK website, so I assume so

Yes - Claybank Skoda. Never tried them though

Yes, my letter arrived today also. The Manchester dealership is having an open evening on Thursday 7th December for former Bury customers.

The Mitsubishi dealership in Rochdale will include a Skoda aftersales facility and a supply of used Skodas.

Bury R.I.P. :RIP:

Yes, Claybank Motor Company are still situated off the M60 junction for Eccles (before heading South over Barton Bridge).

I think they also sell bikes or quads as well?
