Can the Aerial Whip be removed

Featured Replies

I have managed to get a shorter aerial to fit to my 2006 Fabia (antenna whip only).

I just need to remove the original long whip to screw in the shorter one, BUT after unscrewing the whip it refuses to come out from the base!

I don't want to force it & break something, Will it come out with a hard tug?

Or are they moulded inside,i don't really want to replace the base as well (don't fancy dropping down the headlining!)

Any one know?

A hard tug is the key, a barb holds the oem aerial in place as a theft prevention device.

Unscrew it so it feels like it's gone past the thread and you should be able to flatten the aerial down.

Whilst in this position, I pulled my aerial firmly whilst twisting it and it came out without any effort.

yes you pull HARD, thinking all the time "what if those guys on Briskoda are wrong?"

It comes out and then you see the end has a little increase in diameter at the end that's held in by a clip to prevent theft.

Go for it!!!

Thank you for your help. Sorted

haha, this is *exactly* how i felt. gave it a go after reading it - no dice, slight roof flex. beer or two later, back out to the car and a bigger tug and *pop* out it comes.

it'll still fit back in if you want to replace it - no antitheft, but it'll screw in OK.
