How to tell if 754 or 939 pin?

Featured Replies

This is probably a really stupid question, but how do you tell if your processor is 754 or 939 pin?

I want to get a GEForce 7900 GT PCI-Express graphics card so need a new motherboard (as current is AGP) but obviously want to make sure I get the right one.

Processor is an AMD Athlon 64 3500.

Thanks,

Jon.

With that speed its proberbly a 754, but could be either, What motherboard are you using now?

Try a downloadable utility called CPU-Z which gives processor information. I'm not an AMD user myself but it gives the socket info on my Intel CPUs. It can be found here :CPUID

Failing that it should be written on the CPU socket itself. Unfortunately that probably involves removing the heatsink.

Thanks for the replies. That CPU-Z utility did the trick. It is a 939.

Cheers

Have you tried counting the number of pins on the processor?
