LPG conversions in the South East

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I'm due to take possession of a 2001 Octavia 1.8T estate 4x4 tomorrow and I'm very excited! :D

I'm planning to have it converted to run on LPG, and am wondering if anybody can offer any pearls of wisdom to help me decide where to get it done. A private message to WrightyRS sent me to lpgforums.com; I've found a lot of information in this post. So far my options are:

prinslpgnetwork.com (somewhere in SE London) have quoted me £1762.50 for what I presume is a Prins system. My only concern about this one is that lpgforums describe it - broadly - as good but complex, i.e. lots to potentially go wrong.

Another installer in Ashford (energyshift.co.uk) is closer to me, and cheaper at £1645, but wants to install the Zavoli Alisei system. I've read rather a lot of about problems with Zavolis on lpgforums so I'm a bit scared of this option! Having said that, the guy sounded as though he knew his stuff, although I'm not really qualified to see past the sales speech.

A third installer, also in Ashford, has quoted me £1468.75 for a OMVL Dream XXI N system which, along with Romano, seems to be the only systems that don't take much of verbal bashing from anyone on lpgforums.

My gut feeling is to go with the OMVL - which is, conveniently, also the cheapest! :)

Thoughts, anyone?

That certainly seems like the logical option.

I would also want to make sure there was a comprehensive warranty included, that not only covers the install, but any resultant engine failure and the like aswell. :)

They all seem to come with 2-year warranties, except Energy Shift which comes with 1 year. I asked them about this and the guy said, in a very reassuring way, "they don't go wrong". So, err, why not offer a 2-year warranty then? Hmm...

Take the third option. Esp since it comes with a 2 year warrenty and seems to be the best system.

I have BRC sequent sistem and 20 000 km no problem...

landi renzo is another sistem that i think is very good

All converted (OMVL) and running beautifully. On a trip from Maidstone to Derby the other day I averaged 7 pence per mile. :D
