ps, they were fitted to a mk 4 golf,

thanks

if they fit a mk4 golf then tey will fit a mk1 octavia :)

Wheels may well fit but tyres wont, they will probably rub on the rear and on full lock and they are the wrong aspect ratio at 245 x 45, they need to be 225 x 40 x 18 or if you really want to go that wide ( could cause wet grip problems) you would need a profile of 35

width Profile Rim Dia Rolling Radius Error

205 x 50 x 17 319.165mm

225 x 40 x 18 319.41mm +.25mm

245 x 45 x 18 339.66mm +20.5mm

245 x 35 x 18 315.16mm - 4.0mm

Hope this helps the first set of figures is the standard 205 x 50 x 17's fitted to the Octy vrs, the error figure is the difference from std so as you can see the 245 x 45 x 18, are quite a way out 6.5% to be precise which will throw out your speedo and make the car slower on accelleration but ultimately it will go to a higher top speed in each gear.

If you really like the wheels and the tyres are in good condition you could buy them get the right size tyres and ebay the 245's they are sure to be damned expensive tyres to give you an idea goodyear f1's are

thanks for the info, they are nice looking wheels, but I was looking at saving a bit of money cause at the moment I need 4 new tyres (205 50 17) and for a decent make they are more expensive than 4 mint 18" alloys with new tyres on :(
