Polo VR6 - how much power is likely?

Featured Replies

I colleague is driving a Polo VR6 today had has challenged me and a CTR driver to a "race" up a dual carriageway.

What sort of power is possible from the VR6 without a blower?

without a blower sorry, 190bhp corrado version so maybe about 210 ish if modified :)

supercharger or turbo?

as it doesn't have either, does it matter

miss read and already ammended

be warned goochie, i race a polo vr6 when i had my tuned prelude vtec, needless to say he smoked me with ease

straight line it will be quick but its a very heavy engine for polo and it wont handle that well

From 190..200ish BHP, depending on 2.8 or 2.9l, whether chipped, cam, filter and zorst.

I've said "I'll think about it"

The MD is interested in a race though........ he's collecting his Nismo V-SpecII NUR GTR today

Go for it Phil, would be good for a giggle if nothing else!

yeah it will be laugh (just dont get caught speeding)

Stop being a tart and go have a straight run with him...

If you want ill have a go in my G40 against your car - whatever you drive - im not fussed...

The thing will be seriously dodgy round corners unless mid engined rear wheel powered! and that i highly doubt - once rolling though - that thing will eat the CTR and probably give that thing your MD is "picking up" a good run for its money - not win but not far off!

You wish! Gohjira will have your eurobox for breakfast (and mine too, but I'm not daft enough to claim otherwise). ;)

What on Earth is "Gohjira" when it's at home???

Im not denying the car that's being collected is "fast" - but at the same time that polo your speaking of will eat most cars!

My mate with traction in his 328 can woop me off the line - i pass him at 80 and he passes me again at 120 - so all in all - the polo will put up a good fight!

He looks mean - and quite capable of eating my euro shed...

Although it does look a bit like a ****ed off chewitt monster....:P

The car the MD is collecting holds/held the production car record at the Burgerking in Germany.

I think I'll say yes but only if there are corners.

Cheers Dr Z. It's also the nickname for a Nissan Skyline GTR (286bhp "officially", 4wd, 4ws, and good for about 180mph when delimited) . What Goochie's boss is picking up is normally known as "Gohjira SIR!", and is even faster!

Held - the record's now with a Locaterfield thingie with about the same power as a GRT, and a third the weight.

Keep us posted how it goes...

If the MD does play about in his new car round the corners - then takes pics of it banana shaped for us all to see...

If i had the money / care to buy the above - would you even consider " racing " a polo - errr no - i mean whats the point?

Go on a Donnigton track day with some of the above and see who wins!

D

Power - 170+ bhp in a straight line assuming he doesn't vapourise the tyres.

About 50 bhp around the corners unless he's had an awful lot of suspension and brakes work done.

J.

The engine that was in my golf untill recently was producing 210whp at just over 7k. Up to 290whp is possible though without using forced induction.

Anything to report?

Nothing to report - the traffic was to heavy :(

if it is the chewit monster it'l use you as roller skate!

and it'll use your fabia for the left foot!

Fair enough about the traffic - not really much to prove on a highway - would have been interesting to see what the chewit monster compared like...

LOL
