Handling

Featured Replies

I want to improve the handling of my Fabia Vrs I know that I need the rear arb and cupra bushes which I am going to get sorted soon, but I want to change the dampers but I don't want to lower it or put alot stiffer springs on as I'm hoping to get the Lotus effect of soft springs with stiff dampers plus I like the smoothness of the ride at low speeds.

I have seen the Koni fsd's these would be almost perfect but I'm not sure if they are still available for the Vrs or where I can get them from.

I also thought that I might be able to put on the Ibiza cupra tdi 160 dampers on, by buying them off a VAG specialist, does anyone know if they will fit or improve the handling of the Vrs?

I also am thinking about putting a LSD on the front would this help much or would it be a waste of money on a non chipped or tuned model? I know that they improve traction out of corners by stopping to much power going to the inside wheel.

Basicly I want a car thats good to drive round corners as well as in a straight line and has plenty of feel and communication.

The rear ARB will cure your inside wheel traction out of tight corners/T-junctions. Remember of course you have traction control to work for you as well.

For dampers I believe you have a choice between the Koni FSD and Eibach pro-dampers. I have Koni sports on my 1.4 that are good and sporty (plus you don't need lowered/stifer springs with them) BUT I have heard these are not available for the vRS.

I'd forget the Cuprs tdi 160 VAG dampers as they will likely be prohibitive on cost, versus any Koni/Bilstein etc.

The Cupra combo is very hard day-to-day. You'll sacrifice all comfort.

I wouldnt say the rear ARB cures the wheelspin personally, although it helps for sure.

That said the LSD will make a BIG difference. The only catch with the LSD is that it is pretty expensive.

As per some other thread where I said this, IF you are going down the LSD path, get your clutch uprated / changed at the same time, it will save you a fortune in labour.
