2.0 TDI variable servicing intervals

Featured Replies

Mine's now on 16k miles with no sign of a service light so it's going to make it to at least 17k before I need to spend money on it. Personally I'm hoping to make it to the other side of 20k as I do a fair amount of motorway driving and don't abuse it.

How long have other people gone before their first and subsequent services were needed , and what sort of driving do you normally do?

Admidtedly it was a 1.9TDI, but that managed 27k between services, with about 90% motorway driving.

My 1.9TDi had first one at 18.7K (70% Mway, 20% A-roads, 10%town). I accelerate fairly hard but cruise at only 5-10mph over indicated speed (I need my license!). Current mileage is 32K so next one probably about 5K away.

coincidently, mine flashed for its first service yesterday afternoon:(

Its got 16500 approx on the clock, it said 500 miles or 182 days for a service. Did a 10 mile journey and then said 400 miles or 182 days for a service:confused:

Well its gives me a chance to sort a few things out.

Mine was serviced at 18200 but have changed it to fixed servicing now as I am only averaging about 11000 miles per year.

First Service was 19.3K, second came in at 38K.

My first was at around 17K

I only really use the car at weekends (M-way miles).

My light came on @ 16K, I phoned the dealer to book it in and they said leave it until 20K

Its now on 16500 and saying "Service now". Think ill book it in for Jan 2007 just to be safe.

Same car, same engine, but I carried out (by main dealer at my expense) oil & filter changes at 7K mile intervals, which the variable servcing thingie can't cope with! Had my first service at 21000 miles (no light coming on): main dealer suggested that was about normal, and equated to 12 months' motoring: it's a leased car, but I like to look after my motors! dealer said to let lease company know that the little light was on...... ahem!!!!!! Not much help, I'm afraid, as it was a cheat!!!! Currently on 32K miles after 18 months, still averaging 50 mpg for mixed motorway, A road & urban driving, 60+ for motorway only on cruise control:thumbup: a HUGE improvement after my last gas-guzzling Omega estate: 22 mpg if I was lucky!!!:D

Mine asked for service at 19K mostly motorway miles. The 2.0Tdi doesn't seem to do as many miles as the 130PD Octy I had before (21K to first service), but it had an extra litre of (expensive!) oil in it's sump.

My 1.9PDTDI has had services at 19K and 38K

My MK1 Octy 1.9TDI had services at 24K, 48K and 72K.

I wonder how variable the variable servicing is. But the PDI is going to need an extra service over 80K compared to the TDI :thumbdwn:

Same for mine, also a 1.9.

Mine was just under 19K for the first service.

My 1.9 TDi 110 was serviced at about 28k, 58k, 87k (all dealer), and 115k (JBS).

My 205 had an oil change every 6k and was on 140k! That's a lot of oil...

I'd paid for oil changes at the dealer at 4,000 and 12,000 and was also told by my dealer to wait for 20k before service, despite the light coming on at 15,500 miles. Very annoying doing another 4.5k miles with the constant "Service now" reminder...

*edit* Apart from a few trips to France we do all our miles in short journey trips. No, I'm not a cabbie..

Mine's now on 17065 and the service indicator has just popped up showing 1600 miles to go.

Looks like I'll be getting that done not long after christmas then.

My colleague has a Leon 2.0PD and he's had to have his serviced at 8,800 miles!!!!! Gobsmacked.

Told him to stop thrashing it everywhere.

My previous Octy went in at 19k and again at 39k

Never seen the light and I am on 15K

My 2.0TDI serviced at 19,000 and 38,000 miles, now at 40,000+.

And to resurrect an old thread , mine's now asking for it's second service at 38.6k - 20k after it's first service.

Fortunately Skoda are paying for this one as well :)

Interesting - the maximum service interval for the 2.0 TDI lump is 30,000km - looks like most drivers hit the maximum or close.

If you press the trip reset button when the ignition is on but the engine not turning you can see how many miles/days you have left. I think that

I've on 5500 miles after two months and the service indicator says service in 4100 miles or 690 days. Sucks a bit, think I'll change to fixed.

my indicator has just come on 1000 miles to go with 17500 on the clock
