Alignment !? MkII Octy VRS

Featured Replies

I am the proud owner of a blue Octy VRS MkII, which I bought brand new, and picked up last week from Bickerton Skoda, Sheffield.

Thus far I am highly delighted with the car overall, and despite keeping it below 4000rpm it is still keeping up with traffic ( and in many cases stuffing them ! )

The only niggle thus far has been that the car seems out of alignment somewhat ?, basically the car seems to "crab" to the right when being run on dead straight roads, with minimal or even negative camber.

I am obviously the only owner, so a bad crash repair is ( hopefully !!! ) out of the question.

It is not a huge problem, but on the motorway commute I am aware that I have to keep making regular corrective adjustments to the left.

Normally I would expect Camber to be responsible for such an issue, but that would only account for drifting towards the kerb, whereas mine does the opposite.

I have noticed the Bridgestones fitted to my car seem pretty quick to respond to any slight deviation of the wheel, certainly more so than the Conti Super Contact on my Octy VRS MKI, but it can't all be in my head can it ?!?!?!?

The only other niggle I have is that the rear wash wipe seems to only dribble onto the bottom half of the screen, whereas my Octy MKI fair spurted like a good un !

Any comments would be appreciated.

It's going back to Bickertons on Friday, so will keep you posted.

Quick check...maybe look at tire pressure to make sure they are okay. Then look at bring it back to dealer to sort out.

Washer pipe might be slightly loose in the boot, so that some it going into the boot and some the pipe?

my rear washer was spraying inside the wiper arm ..... which was nice. could also check that?

Could yours be the car I saw in Langold a few days ago?

Cheers for all the advice, obviously had a complete mental failure - never thought to check tyre pressures, which is normally first thing I do on a new car.

Obviously been too busy admiring it to do the basics.

I will check the pressure soon as it stops chucking it down ( that would be april then ! )

No obvious sign that the washer water is leaking inside bootlid, and the jets don't appear to be misaligned - see what garage comes up with.

As for Langold, I'm afraid not, I had to look up on a map where Langold is, never heard of it, though I'm sure it's very nice.

My car has done nothing but take me to work and back since I got it, with the exception of a trip to York for some xmas shopping.

Just filled it up, ( not yet empty only done 280 miles ) prior to budget increase, and my calculations show it's doing 31.3 mpg - not as good as my MKI VRS, but not bad for a new engine.
