Wardy's Ibiza TDi Sport

Featured Replies

I realised while browsing this section tonight that I hadn't posted a thread of my latest, so thought I'd rectify that!

Haven't got round to any decent pics yet, in some more interesting and varied locations, so here's just some outside the house after she's been washed. I gave a full detail, complete with PC, shortly I bought her in August. So there's Meg clay bar work, two coats of Mezerna polish, one coat of Klasse sealant and several coats of Meg's Gold Class before you....

2002 Seat Ibiza TDi Sport

  • 1.9TDi PD130 with Superchips remap
  • PD160 air intake and Green panel filter
  • Eibach Pro-Kit springs and dampers (-30mm)
  • JabbaSport rear ARB
  • Seat Ibiza Cupra solid front/front wishbone bushes
  • Polybush front/rear wishbone bushes
  • Bosch aero front wipers
  • Polo 9N aero rear wiper

Any time Andy - seriously. Shall we book in a session in the Spring for the Octy? :-)

Cheers Rich - she's running well, looking pretty good I reckon and with work still to do :D

Must fit those HIDs!

Steve

Took really nice, and even better when its been lowered.

The Fabia vRS 21mm front ARB. Do these make much differance and will it fit on the PD100? Or has it already got one?

Looks good mate... bet it will look even better lowered... grrr

I'm only jealous...

Looks spot on.... how do you rate it against your previous VRS?

Is it a PD100 or 130?

Either way it looks great!

When are you going to colour code the door handles and rubbing strips? ;)

I like the cabin a bit more - more driver orientated and bit more going on, like the red backlighting better too. The plastic quality could be a little better, especially over the top of the dash, but I can live with it. I seem to be more in the minority with this opinion of the dash, going on an earlier thread but there you go...

Ride and handling - seems a little less nose heavy than the Fab and the std brakes seem a little better, even though the setup is identical. Ride is a bit more 'fidgety' though, think the rear shock rebound is setup differently to the Fab.

Basically I was after something cheaper while still retaining the PD130 unit - and for that it's spot on!

Still can't decide on the styling and which I prefer more though. My vRS did have quite a bit of presence by the time I'd finished with it, I think. (see attached)

Oh, and it's quicker and more flexible engine wise. I had the Fab One-Clicked in the later months but found the map a bit 'spikey' and suffered from clutch slip at certain points. Whereas this has more punch, but a much smoother map...

It's on the 'to do' list Tom - did you miss it? ;)

PD130, tweaked :D

Steve

The back end on those Seat's look nice but the front end looks, er, odd.

Still a nice looking car though.

Nice ride

Now with added goodness!

Had the suspension, bushes and rear ARB sorted on Friday at Jabba. WOW! A totally transformed car. Plenty of roundabouts were circumnavigated over the weekend :D

Will post some more pics up, after she's next cleaned, to show the drop...

Steve

Nice, where'd you get the front wipers?

  • Author

They're a Renault Part Eddy, they're the Scenic I Aero front wipers. £33 for them IIRC, quite steep I admit but they look better, are quieter in operation and seem to do a better job.

There's part numbers available - try a search here for renault wipers. For the record, the Megane II aeros are too long for the Ibiza screen. The Fabia guys say they're better as they offer a larger wipe. Quite possibly true on the Fab, but when I tried them on the Ibiza, the two blades touched. No problems in 500 miles + with the Scenic ones...

HTH,

Steve

It looked nice and flat as I was following Mr Ward the other day - a great mod to a very light car... I would imagine it handles better than the fabia with the same mods. What do you think Steve?

  • Author

Hehe - it's such an improvement, I'm still in state of shock. I know I got bushes, suspension and ARB all done at the same time, so it flippin' well should be better! Might sound daft, but it feels like you've got 4wheel steering...

I can see myself going through this current set of F1s a bit quicker than anticipated ;-)

Steve

but it feels like you've got 4wheel steering...

You get use use to it after a couple of weeks. You will then think nothing of it but think to yourself. Boy it was bad to start with.

  • Author

Don't really see it as a bad thing TBH, just a very apparent difference in how the car now reacts and responds.

Steve

  • 1 month later...

Realised I hadn't taken any pics since the Jabba visit in December, so took some after I cleaned her this afternoon.

So - changes since the last pics:

  • Eibach Pro-Kit springs and dampers, -30mm, although it I'm sure it's more than that on the front?!
  • JabbaSport rear ARB (see last pic ;))
  • Seat Ibiza Cupra solid front front wishbone bushes and Polybush front rear wishbone bushes (not that you can see them!)
  • Aluminium Seat Sport Tax Disc Holder

Cheers,

Steve
