Featured Replies

Okay y'all, serched, read and still cant do it.

How do i remove the door cards from all 4 doors on my Fabia 2001 classic.

Trying to fit my central locking kit but cant seem to get the inner door handles off or the window winders or the card, seems really stiff.....getting so frustrated now.

Any one got pickies of door card n stuff removal........i am usually not one wimp out of stuff but i dont want to be tooo excessive on the doors and then cost me dosh to repair........

Thanks ( cant pull me hair out cos i got none left )

Kevin

The fronts come off with the following

- 3 torx screws down low

- remove top part of handle cover - you'll notice its in two sections. It slides off with some pressure, toward the back of the car. This exposes 2 philips screws

- remove the blanking off panel on the door card which usually the wingmirror adjust switch sits in (and remove that switch for driver's side) This exposes a third philips screw. Then its a case of teasing out the clips. I start on the bottom right and work up, and along the bottom. The top just sits in the window area.

For the back, I believe there is a surclip on the window winder, which when pulled out allows the handle to come away from the spline, and the door card comes off in a similar fashion. I think there might be 2 or 3 low down torx's, but no philips screws from memory.

What would be realy good is if someone could do a walkthrough with images of this procedure.

many of us would benefit. I got a few rattles in one of my doors, but am reluctant to remove incase i damage of make it worse.

there was a walkthrough of the rear doors but as Lummox did it and hes had to leave the forum , unfortunetely the pictures went with him

Damit, when i do mine i'll take some photoes

re rattles , if you've got the door lock pins on yours , they can rattle , mine do

i think also some of the wiring behind the trim can rattle on the front doors

I found removing the bottom screws, pulling the bottom of the door panels away from the body of the door, and stuffing the gap in between with newspaper cured the rattles without having to take them off completely. The Mighty Lummox warned about this increasing the fire loading if the worst were to happen, but seeing how much more quickly and fiercely plastic burns compared to newspaper, it was a risk I was prepared to take. To be on the safe side, I'd recommend proper (fire resistant) automotive sound deadening material just in case, and accept no responsibility for anyone using anything else!
