skoda symphony stereo code?

Featured Replies

Hello. My skoda is only a couple of years old but I can't find the code for the stereo anywhere. Whereabouts should I be looking in the manual? Is it in the service history manual?

Would it be anywhere on the CD changer in the boot for example?

it should be linked to the ecu, so you should not worry too much

Sorry whats an ECU?

The reason I ask is, because I fitted an aftermarket unit, and now plan on selling the car, but the stereo is asking for a code, hence the above post.

You'll need to request it from your dealer.

If the stereo is the original one for the car then no code is needed. If the battery is disconnected then the cars onboard computer will send the code to the radio when its requested.

ahh.. thats clearer. so it probably takes a few mins for the code to be requested by the stereo? As a test last weekend I just reconnected the original skoda stereo for a few seconds, but i got the 'CODE' message on the head unit, so i assumed i would need to enter one???

Thanks for all the replies. I have software to decode the stereo myself but just couldnt figure out how to use it. I'd rather not pay the dealer any money at all if i can avoid it :D

If it is still stored it will, as Manny says, decode itself after a few seconds.

I assumed by your first post that you'd had it plugged in and had not got it to work in which case you would need to contact a dealer.

sorry to sound a bit dumb , but do you mean to say the code gets 'deleted' from the stereo if left disconnected a few minutes? The stereo is a factory fitted one, and did originate in this skoda.

I'll try connecting it again maybe this weekend and see if it works. Maybe its worth a try??

I don't think the code is deleted as such no.

When you plug it back in it should show CODE for a few seconds and then start working. If after 30 - 45 seconds it still says CODE then I'm afraid you'll need to visit the dealer.

I dont think it sends the code with the engine running, you need to put the key into position 1 for the code to send.
