Been Jabba'ing again :)

Featured Replies

I took a day off to get the car sorted out and improved on Tuesday. A bit of a long day but well worth it .

As there was a bit of work to do Jabba offered the use of the Lupo (courtesy car) so I could wander into Peterbrough.

20K service, Cupra intake, Jabba ARB and a less than vicious remap (only 270lbft or so but hopefully 170bhp ish). :)

I had been concerned that I wouldn't feel much with the remap as I wanted torque limited - erm no. :o  :D In the 2500rpm area there's noticably more shove available and now it continues to do so way up past 3K rpm. Accelerator response also feels far more linear than previously. The last inch or two of travel now feels like it's doing something.

I can definitely feel the ARB doing its thing too. No longer does the car want to sit down on it's RS and wave a front wheel in the air or suffer lurchiness at the back end.

Thank you Jabbasport.

Why Skoda don't fit a rear ARB as standard is beyond me. I was considering getting one for my new Furby when it comes in a few weeks but I'm looking forward to having a standard car on insurance. Changing my wheels alone made my premium rocket. :(

I reckon it's the lift-off oversteer increase that would catch people out - VAG tends to be understeer-happy to be (overly) safe, but on the plus side the rear ARB (on it's own) probably won't increase your insurance premium :D

I haven't unduly provoked it yet... I intend to visit a large roundabout in the early hours of the morning to do that :D TBH, the way I drive I don't think lift-off will be a problem.

To anyone worried about insurance etc. All I can recommend is that you ask your insurance brokers or company. IMO they're more concerned about visual differences, anything that makes your car stand out and/or makes it more expensive to replace if there's a claim. On the performance side of things, I think suspension comes a long way after increased BHP and fscking about with the brakes.

I'd be interested to see what Direct Line would make of it. As I say, they shat themselves when I told them my car had non standard wheels on and my premium went up by about £90 plus a higher excess.

If the thing makes such a difference as everyone claims it does I might have to buy one. :)
