Why oh why

Featured Replies

Right iv just taken battery, battery box and air box unit out for some small jobs - check power steering, fit new side light and have a bit of a clean up. I then started to pack things up for the night and my bloody bonnet wont shut !!.

Its ok as im working on the car most of tomorrow, but i dont no why it wont shut.

Theres nothing stuck up, left on wiper trim or seal getting in thr way:mad: , anyone got any suggestions

Cheers :)

Sure nothing is in the way? Left a bolt / screw / tool in the way somewhere, maybe on top of a headlight. I know whenever I do stuff, I always leave bits there sometimes. I would go out with a torch and just check right around the seal and where the bonnet sits. None of your prior work should affect it.

Alternatively, as mine does.... sometimes the bonnet release handle does not fully go back when you pop the bonnet. See if you can get the handle back into the normal position, pointing straight down. If you find it sat angled outwards when you get back to the car, you know this is it. ;)

Thanks, im leaving it for now as it is actually freezing. I will get a better look in daylight and see what the crak is.

But for now its feet up on the sofa, well deserved beer in one hand and tv remote in other Ahhhhhhh :D:thumbup:

Cheers for the help, it will probably be something silly

Was it not shutting simply by always staying on the second safety catch, and not shutting tight? (So every time you shut it, you were able to pull it up again to get the little lever to pop out)

If this is the case, I bet it is the catch release handle. It's quite common for it to get sticky. I just now remember to pull it to release AND push it back down again.
