Felicia major service

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have two Felicias, one coming up to 80k miles and I was wondering what it needed over and above regular servicing for its second 40k. Sorry to be a numpty but is it cambelts and stuff that could get expensive if they go?

What engines have they got?

It's a 1300 LX estate.

1300 doesn't have a cambelt. So, in my opinion, a change of oil, plugs, air filter, oil filter, fuel filter should do the trick. Thats the most a garage would do. Plus maybe a brake fluid change if it hasn't been done in the last 2 years and a coolant flush if not done in the last 4 years.

Much appreciated Durham Red. They are serviced by a local guy every 10k but he doesn't go beyond fluid changes, brakes, plugs, MOT, etc. The 40k sounds like nothing he can't handle.

My wife's 1300L is coming up to 120k (she had it new) so more good news.

No probs, glad to help.

Skoda specify gearbox oil every 40,000 miles.

Cheers Fordfan, I'll make sure it gets changed. The Felicias have been so cheap to run I'm not sure what 'real' motoring costs and frankly, I'm not looking forward to finding out.

Dont be scared about 120k, Ive seen these cars breeze through 180k :D might be worth getting tappets adjusted, and at 120k I would get your ghuy to listen for timing chain rattle.

Thanks for that. The 120k car went through it's MOT yesterday needing nothing doing (yea!) again.

A far cry from the old Rover. Ocean yacht racing would have been cheaper.

my favorit estate is at 130k needed a brake light bulb for its last MoT :D

:) Very important to check and adjust the valve clearances at every service on the 1.3 engine.
