Do all Octy's have 'Sound system' on the speaker grilles?

Featured Replies

Random question I know! Alot of people seem to complain about the standard audio system in their octys but mine seems pretty good? I'm wondering weather they all say 'sound system' on the speakers or if it was perhaps an optional upgrade?

The speaker grilles in my 4x4 say 'SkodaAuto'. I THINK the L&K spec had the upgraded 'Sound System' as standard and were an option on others.

Hmm mine has Sound System too and sounds quite good to me.

Not exactly a descriptive badge though is it?! It's pretty obvious the car has a 'sound system' if noise is able to appear from behind the grilles! ;)

The mk1 Octavia could be spec'd with a 'premium' speaker set.

The speakers themsevles do look physically different to the normal Octavia ones, though i've never heard a set to know if their much better.

Got pictures of the 'premium' next to standard ones on my old computer, will try and upload some :)

mine has "sound system " badging and they are totally crap.

Upgraded mine in my Octy Vrs to Pioneer 17cm component speakers within days of buying it, must say it has got to be one of the best upgrades Ive done to the car. I also upgraded the rears with MB Quarts 13cm components in the back and fitted a 10 inch JBL sub and box in the boot, not to annoy the neighbours or look a tw*t when I'm driving but to fill in the lower frequencies, I think a car stereo should be about the quality of sound not the amount of windows you can rattle (leave that to the Saxo and Nova maxpower boys)!

Forgot to mention, I also fitted a Pioneer 6400 head unit that I had in my Cosworth, (bit old now but I like watching the dolphins)

My vRS had those silver sound system badges, but I peeled them of because they looked tacky. Underneath it just has an engraved "Skoda Audio" bit.

None of my 3 have had anything on the speaker grilles!

I have sound system badges there and it sounds like CRAP ... terrible !!! Exchanged with Rainbow SLX-265 Deluxe speakers and did some other changes. Sounds great now !

How easy are the stock speakers to change?

simple, prise off the grilles, 4 screws and the drive unit drops out of the door, just unplug the connector. You need to improvise the connections for the new units unless you are happy cutting the OE connectors off the door loom.

The drive units are 6.5" standard size, but you need to check how big the magnets are - there's not a lot of space behind the speaker to accomodate magnet depth or diameter.

The sound system chrome stickers are simply stuck on top of the standard skoda auto on the grills. The sound system stickers eventually fell off the grills on my old mk1 vrs.

wish they would, i think they will be too deep for an octy I, although if anyone knows if these will fit with standard door skins then :)

Be great if they did, seems like a very good price!
