Nice example.

The poor mans cleaning products have worked well.

Nice golf too.

unichip? why didnt you just get a remap instead of a piggyback ecu. I take it not all the sensors work anyone including VAG-COM?

  • Author

It was cheap and it means I can get the map tweaked to suit any mods I do to the engine.

Why should it effect any sensors? Everything works just as it did and VAG-COM shows no fault codes.

This Fabia looks very nice in the flesh! Goes well too! LOL

Nice Fabia... and a serious looking Golf...

Looking at the Golf mod's i'd say you know what to do as far as modding the Fabia is concerned...

Be interesting how you get on with the lower brace...

I hear the new unichip works very well on the PD engines( I had the previous one and it was c***), look forward to your review of the Bilsteins

Have got quite a bit done on the car over the last few days.....

Last Thursday popped over to GMS (Grant MotorSport) in Brislington to fit the Forge FMIC, Wieschers lower brace and the Billies.

To fit the Wieschers bar we had to cut a slice out of the undertray about 6"x1", the bar is about 5mm lower than the undertray at it's lowest point, ATM the fronts are a few turns off as low as they will go so I may have to go back up a bit. I've only got a few inches clearance but so far no scrapes.

The car now pulls noticeably harder across the rev range which is nice, I wasn't really expecting much as it is more in preperation for more mods later down the line....vnt 17/20 hybrid etc. The handling now is excellent, very neutral compared to the standard setup, even wheel spinning in 3rd pushing hard out of a wet corner the car held it's line tightly rather than making a dash for the nearest tree. :D

Then today had the cat lopped off and a piece of straight pipe welded in instead, i'm quite suprised to say the least at the difference it's made...woooooooosh hehe.

I'll be popping back over to GMS soon so Grant can take some measurements to make a rose jointed rear ARB.

I'll post some pics up tomorrow after I pick up my MOs from the powder coaters. :D

Ohhhh. What's the FMIC like?

  • Author

It works very well thanks m8, everything went on as it should do, we ended up using zip ties and sticky sound proofing foam tho to stop the FMIC vibrating on the bumper iron, a bit of an oversight on Forges part IMHO not having any brackets on the bottom of it, but nevermind, i'm very happy with it.

Just called the powder coater but wheels won't be ready untill tomorrow :( Does anyone know if the standard Skoda wheel bolts have radius or spherical seats?

Just to let you know. The blue pipes, on the right hand side, should sit flush with each other, you shouldn't be able to see the pipe. This way, it will raise the bottom pipe up, and won't hit the bumper.

  • Author

I know what you are saying but it has nothing to do with the bottom pipe, the core is only fixed by the two tabs at the top, leaving the bottom to swing into the bumper iron.

Looks very nice.

I can never get my red that clean.

A few up-to-date although not so clean pics before I get the Compo's on it.

Cheers :)

And a few pics of my last car....

Look at that, leave your car for 5 minutes and some little bugger has your steering wheel and gear gaiter away. Makes you sick :thumbdwn:

  • Author

Haha the little toerags stole my gear gaitor and replaced it with a VW Motorsport shifter.......If Carlsberg made thieving scumbags.....

It's all starting to come along now ;)

Some fresh piccies. :)

I got the VT-2 (thanks Jason) on a week or two back along with a nice new turbo back exhaust. I had to pop up to Merlin motorsport and Allards last week to to pick up a few bits and took LLoyd out for a quick spin, he said it felt very good....before a boost hose blew off  and that's only running 1.75bar, 2bar should be nice. :D Maybe 240hp will be possible with my 3" pipe.

I've also got hold of a VDO 3bar boost gauge, I was originally going to use an A-pillar pod but havn't been able to find one that will work as the fabia A-pillar is pretty deep, ended up getting a single pod which i've trimmed to sit on top of the steering column cowling, I just need to work out some way of attaching it now.

Finally will hopefully be picking up my Futuras from the powder coaters tomorrow, will get them on next week with a bit of luck.
