LSD for an Octy vRS mk.I

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Can someone point me in the direction of where I can get a LSD for my vRS.

Cheers:thumbup:

Hi Steve

we can supply only or fit the Quaife units,..

supply only

Hi Mate

Agree with Louise there it would be Quaife to go for or Peloquin

Peloquin`s are from America and quite hard to get hold of

It is not an LSD though it is an ATB

LSD on the FWD cars on the road are not really a good thing , it is the ATB that you need

Sarah

What does ATB stand for?

Thanks Sarah

Hi Des

I forgot that you have this done

I must admit did a few at the other place with the ATB diffs

We did quite a few

We have had laods of enquiries just lately about them and are expecting an email from Quaife now.

Mmm I know having spoke to another guy who had it done at the other place , he says that it was one of the best mods he had done with a HUGE grin on his face , so there you go

Sarah

Going to hijack the thread a bit, but looking on the Quaife website they list the ATB for 3 different Octavia gearboxes. What is the one for a standard box (what I have now), and which one is for a stronger replacement box (what I will need in the future)?

It is a good mod and defo worth the money, just a shame I had to have it all rebuilt to work properly. Water under the bridge now, keep smiling. :)

If you still have the standard gearbox you will need the 5 speed 02J one, which I believe is the riveted in type. If you upgrade to the 6 speed 02M it's a bigger diff and a bolt in type.....I think.

I believe Des is correct 02J is for all later 5 speed boxes and that is what you have on yours

Fabia vRS 6 speed will be the 02M

Oooh , Des did I know about this? sorry

What are you apologising for, it's not your fault. :)

Cos I dont know about that?

Sarah

I've got a Quaife on my Fabia vRS and it was also fitted at 'the other place :P' as you call it ;)

Plus points:

* Works regardless of speed, unlike EDL which only works at lower speeds

* Doesn't wear your brakes out like crazy, unlike EDL

* Gives amazing traction out of roundabouts

* Works well in the snow too

* Reduces need for ESP and/or TC to kick in as mostly the ATB holds it well

Minus points:

* Very expensive due to labour as well as parts

* Will lead to buying that uprated clutch (saving on labour)

* That in turn might lead to further modifications that cost money :P

However IF you are able to afford it, I'd HIGHLY recommend it. The difference on the Fabia vRS was VERY notable, and when you push up the power/torque of the Octy, every little bit of grip you can get mechanically starts to become more worth it.

Also there is the big grin :D

Hi WW

I knew you would have that grin

I remember you coming in to "The Other Place" and having it done, then came the review after it

So the only down side is price?

Sarah

Pretty much ;) - My engine appears to have been given the ok again so fingers crossed they can map it today, it's gonna be a close call I reckon but I'm REALLY hoping I'm gonna have mine back :)
