wot's the standard stereo like in th octy vrs and whats the cheapest way to upgrade ,speakers or head unit

The standard stereo is OK, the news recording feature is quite cool. Not much else on it though, not even the time. The EQ on it is not that good either.

I drove a new octy recently and they've done a good job with the stereo.

I've upgaded to a 7" Kenwood double din unit. Sounds good, but needs better front door speakers as they are cardboard I think. I've just put in my old sub and will sound much better than standard. The Kenwood has an inbuilt crossover for the front/rear and sub channels out of it too.

I reckon the cheapest way to get better sound is to upgrade the speakers in the car. Stereo really depends on your own choice and how much money you have to spend.

i have a go at the speakers first as they are the cheapest, what size are they and what would you recommend

The Mk1 octavia has 16.5cm component speakers in the front and 13cm in the rear.

There is quite a shallow space in the front so not everything will fit.

Both the standard stereo and speakers are appalling. Rip the lot out and fit something decent - it's a very easy car to upgrade.

A couple of questions first.

Are you planning on using an amp and subwoofer , or just the new speakers?

Did you have a budget in mind?
