Loss of menu options on Maxidot display

Featured Replies

Hi

The other day I posted a thread about the radio not switching on with the ignition - even though it was on the last time the ignition was switched off.

I have tried all combinations of switching radio on/off with and without ignition on - as well as leaving it on for 1 hour until the power saving kicks in.

All to no avail!

I have also noticed that I now dont have the audio or navigation options on the Maxidot menu - they were there when I bought the car!

When I first bought the car - you could choose to display the radio station or navigation directions (or compass display) on the Maxidot.

Now when I enter the Maxidot menu - I dont have audio or navigation listed in the menu items - whether radio or navigation system is switched on or off!

Seems some gremlins are present!

I also have the Skoda built in phone cradle - which works fine through the audio system - but again does not have a menu item on Maxidot (although should have one according to the manual).

Any ideas!

Please!

Cheers

Steve

I think a trip to the dealer is your best option, definately sounds like something is amiss.

Hi Stu

Phoned a few dealers - no immeditate ideas - so I decided to disconnect battery - as on the latest Octavia's the MFD2 is comfort coded - so info should be stored in central ECU.

Lo and behold - it worked!

Obviously system reset itself after battery disconnection and re-learnt all it's original default settings!

Now have full quota of menu options on Maxidot.

I think radio also remembers to stay on now!

Cheers!

 You can beat a good old "switch it off and on again" reset!!

Did you have Navi from new or is it retrofit?

Hi Stu

System came with car - it was one of Simpsons of Colnes demo cars - they tend to spec their cars very highly - came with everything including satnav , phone and even heated leather seats!

Cheers!

How do you enter Maxidot menu?

Couldn't find any topic where it is written...

Hi Lauris, To enter the Maxidot menu press the button on the end of the R/H stalk (windscreen wiper) up for a couple of seconds.Use the same button to move through the options and then press the butt on underneath the stalk to select it. HTH :)

Just checked my owners manual, details are on page 24.

Speaking as one that has worked in IS/IT for a number of years I can confirm that this is standard operating procedure
