Ok, so I wasn't up to it.

Tried unsuccessfully to fit a new HU to my Superb today, so now i'll have to come cap in hand to my fellow forum members for some advice.

The main problem is that there is no power to the HU with the keys out of the ignition, the result of this being that it loses all the presets, i'm sure there's a very simple solution to this so could somebody point me in the right direction and tell me how to rectify this problem, thanks.

it tends to be that the permanent and switched 12V leads are the other way around, depending on the lead used you may find you can just plug them over (swap), on others you may need a little conversion lead or you can swap it by messing with the plug itself.

I think there are a few posts about how to do this perhaps with pics to help you along, it would be the same on all VAG cars :)

Hope this helps :D

i have one of those conversion leads here if you need it..... it swops the yellow and red wires around which should solve your problems..

pm me your adress and i'll send it to you

I'm not sure i'm even up to doing that. If that was the only problem I might be tempted to give it a go, but also i'm not happy with the actual fit, it is ever so slightly loose, which is a bit annoying - but the cage just wouldn't fit!

I think i'll pay somebody to do it properly - any recommendations of a decent fitter in the Merseyside area?

Oh how we laughed. :guapo:

what kind of head unit is it

Carnt you just swap over the red wire with the yellow wire. Iam sure to hell this is what i did, i didnt buy any wires/leads. This is in a fabia though.

Heads can be a bitch to fit. I had the same problem Bloody VAG cars have the red and yellow (permanent 12v and Ignition)wires swapped over, swapping them makes it work you should be able to push the pins from the iso conector and swap them over.

I find it helps if you remove the glove box (only 5 torx screws) you can then get your hand in behing the HU to ease cables out of the way as you slide the HU into position.

If i lived down there i'd come and do it, sorry
