Fabia mk II rumours

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

Read some interesting speculation about the future fabia mk II in a leading finnish motoring magazine. They were stating that new fabia will sport a dsg-box as an option.

Now, it could be they've just mixed things with the already mentioned 6-speed tiptronic available with the petrol engine - but then again maybe they haven't?

The magazine is a very well known and respected in the nordic area and has proven very reliable, it's been published for 55 years.

So, if they prove to be right once again we're headed for very interesting times.

Also another rumour I read elsewhere stated that Fabby will have some all new diesel engines, including a double charged 1.4 TDI sporting 140HP & 250nm with a 3.4l/100km consumption.

I heard the DSG rumour too from some Czech websites so I presume it will come on the new RS. Could be the first supermini with DSG

The twin charged 1.4 you mention is not a diesel, it is the petrol TSI 1.4 as seen in the Golf. It should come with 170BHP in the Fabia RS and maybe as a 125BHP option too for a lower spec model.

I heard there will be a new common-rail 1.6 diesel at a later stage.

I know about the 1.4 TSI, but this was stated specifically that there's a new generation of VAG diesels about to come out and this would include the fore mentioned double charged tiny diesel with the spec mentioned.

But anyway, I'll be the first to order one if they put out a diesel-dsg fabia... it'd be the dogs under carriage!

It would be very interesting to see the 1.4 derv in the Fabia with a good level of tune, considering how the A2 drives with the 1.4 3 cylinder turbodiesel it should be quite a laugh.

The only thing is the A2 is MUCH lighter than the Mk1 Fabia, no clue how much the Mk2 weighs but I doubt it will be < 1000kg so it would need a fair bit of power.

It does sound interesting, as the double charging would eliminate the horrible lag on the current 1.4 TDI.

Torque figure doesn't sound like much more than the 1.4 TSI, but consumption that low would be nice :)

are there any release dates yet for the new fab?

Officially launched @ Geneva in March then launched in Europe afterwards. I'm guessing a UK debut late Spring but more likely Summer and vRS to follow next year.
